Make your laptop work for much much longer with these tips and tricks!
Most times people come to our shop with issues that could be easily avoided with a little attention while using their computers. Below are the most common ones:
- Bent Power Cable - Avoids DC Jack Replacement, which is needed when your laptop is not charging
While using your computer, you have to be sure that the power cable is not bent, folded, twisted, pushed against the wall, etc.
Look at the picture below: How long do you think the cable is going to work like this? Even more important: How long to you think that the DC Jack Solder will take to crack?

The causes for that, can be very simple to solve. Sometimes the charger is hanging by the wire, or even too far from the laptop. If your power adapter is hanging in midair, buy an extension cord right away. This will save you the cost of repairing or replacing your power adapter.

- Don't be too harsh with the cable when packing it
It's a predictable situation: by the end of the day you are ready to go home, but not before packing your laptop and charger. You can't wait to get home, but hold on, are you doing it the right way?

If this is the way you're folding your cable, you'll have to practice how to do it in a better way.
If you really don't care how you fold your cable, you can just do it like the following (attention for the spot where the cable touches the charger - it's not pushed)

Or you could even have a few rubber bands around and do a great job (come on, it won't hurt)

Inside the wire you'll find the heart of the power feed of your laptop: Two wires attached to the connector. And believe me, you don't want it to break, because I bet it'll happen when you most need it.

- Watch out for the screen
You don't want to have to replace the laptop screen do you? I knew it! Ok, I'll give you one single tip that will definitely lower the risk of having your screen broken. If everyone paid attention to this detail, the incidence of broken laptop screens would be cut in half.
When you have to take it up and down, ALWAYS use the charger behind the screen. If you have one of those bags with a place for the charger on the front put your laptop with the screen facing the other side. When you stow your power adapter next to your laptop screen, there is a good chance the power adapter will damage the screen if there is an accidental bump against the laptop case, as an example, when your laptop bag falls from the car seat onto the floor as you put on the brakes suddenly.

- Avoid Laptop Overheating
Believe it or not, your laptop needs to breathe! I'm pretty sure you've already heard the fans working, but if you think they'll always be there for you, you're wrong!
Processors are the heart of your computer, and i'm sure you know that, but you can't imagine how much heat it generates while working. You can barely feel it on your hands while using your laptop, but it's only because the heatsink dissipates most of the heat once blown by the fan. To be effective though, the fan has to drag cool air from the bottom and then throw it on the heatsink. So think about that: what happens to this air intake when you use your computer over the bed or the couch?

So remember: Always use if over a hard surface!
If you DO need to use it over the couch, bed, or any other surface that would block this air intakes, click here and we'll show you a safe way to do that.
If it's too late to prevent the damage though, be sure you can count on us to help you put your laptop back at work.
